What two city council employees, a dentist and a student had in common at a LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017? All of them worked as Team Guides to support the four best teams in Europe. As the tournament came to an end on Sunday, the Guides had to say goodbye to their teams after almost two weeks of working together. Unexpected tasks and 24h of availability sounds demanding and difficult, but Justyna, Agnieszka, Magda and Monika find it quite the opposite - as the best job in the world.

Russia net 14th European crown after dramatic ‘grand finale’ with Germany

The winner is only one – and LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 is no exception as Russia, impeccable in their previous five matches in the tournament, played Germany at TAURON Arena in the most anticipated match of the year to crave for the crown of European champions. They had to fight bravely in their matchup with the Germans, who played almost perfectly, but found a way to become European champions again following their 3-2 victory (25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13) – actually for the fourteenth time in history. Germany, on the other hand, achieved their greatest success in the history of the European Championship with an unprecedented silver medal – their first podium finish ever.

Serbia claim tiebreak victory over Red Dragons to crown #EuroVolleyM with bronze

The final day of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 started with the bronze medal match featuring Serbia and Belgium. The Serbians were still heart-broken following their dramatic semi-final loss to Germany whereas Belgium wanted to recover after Russia had thrashed the Red Dragons in Saturday’s second semi-final.  The duel turned out to be a long and exciting battle, with Serbia eventually sealing the bronze medal after coming from behind (3-2; 25-17, 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12). As a result, Serbia claimed their 11th medal in the competition and their eighth bronze medal – counting also those won by Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. Only Russia (22, including 2017) and Italy (13) have bagged more European Championship medals. Serbia’s eight bronze medals are an all-time record in the competition.

The final day of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY 2017 arrived to Krakow and will reveal the new champions of Europe. On Saturday Serbia received upset at the hands of Germany, who defeated them 3-2 (24-26, 15-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13). Russia continue their winning streak without a single set loss, beating Belgium 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) and hope to keep the quality of their game when facing Germany in the match for gold medal.

All you need to know ahead of opening EuroVolley play-offs

Bulgaria will play Finland and Italy will take on Turkey as the play-off phase of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 gets underway in Krakow and Katowice in less than 24 hours’ time.

Russia thrash Belgium to vie for 14th European crown

Following a five-set showdown between Serbia and Germany, Belgium and Russia were next to play at TAURON Arena in the second semi-final of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017, thus fighting for a spot in the final and a chance to play for gold on Sunday. The game was much more lopsided than the first semi-final, as Belgium never really got a chance to fight for taking at least one set and Russia rallied to a comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) to keep an immaculate record with no sets lost in the tournament so far. On Sunday, Russia will play Germany at 20:30 CET in the gold medal match – where they will try to seize their 14th European crown (including those won by the former Soviet Union).

Playoff schedule for LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017

The match schedule for LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 play-off phase in Katowice and Krakow has been announced:

Wednesday, August 30 – Katowice:

17.30 Italy – Turkey (the winner will meet Belgium in the quarterfinal)

20.30 France – Czech Republic (the winner will meet Germany in the quarterfinal)

Wednesday, August 30 – Krakow:

17.30 Bulgaria – Finland (the winner will meet Serbia in the quarterfinal)

20.30 Poland – Slovenia (the winner will meet Russiain the quarterfinal)*

* if Poland advances to the quarterfinal, their match will be played at 20.30 CET

Germany come from behind to secure first ever #EuroVolleyM medal

Serbia and Germany opened the programme of the LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 semi-finals on Saturday in Krakow, with these two teams trying to add another chapter to their winning streak in the competition. Germany prevailed after a truly dramatic five-set clash (24-26, 15-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13) to secure their first #EuroVolleyM medal in history. Serbia could not capitalise on two match points they had at the end of the fourth set and will have to play for bronze on Sunday. Germany have improved on their best result at the men’s European Championship – they finished fourth in 1991 and 1993, while the former East Germany had settled for that same position in 1967 and 1971.

Bulgaria power past Slovenia into 2nd place in Pool C

With LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 well underway, Monday was the day to decide the final pool standings.  In the first game of the day at TAURON Arena Bulgaria battled Slovenia for second place in the group, therefore hopefully avoiding the home team of Poland in the play-off phase. After two close sets, and a third in which they dominated, Bulgaria eventually came out on top and won the match 3-0.

Russia, Serbia, Belgium and Germany reached the final phase of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 and are preparing for the semifinals on Saturday. All of the four top teams in Europe share an immaculate record at #EuroVolleyM so far, after winning their respective pools prior to the quarterfinals. On Friday morning, captains Dragan Stankovic, Lukas Kampa, Sam Deroo and coach Sergey Shlyapnikov discussed the upcoming matches and reflected on their journey at #EuroVolleyM.

The second game of Group C playing in Kraków featured Spain and defending silver medallists from Slovenia. Underdogs from Spain fought bravely in the first set but they failed to take the chance to win it, subsequently losing 0-3 (25-27, 15-25, 16-25).

Road to #EuroVolleyM – Venues & dates announced for next big Volleyball party

Warsaw, Poland, October 21, 2016. The Final Round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men will take place in Poland from August 25 till September 3. The event will be hosted by four cities: Krakow, Gdansk, Katowice and Szczecin. Today their representatives received ‘official’ nominations from the hands of CEV Senior Vice President Renato Arena and Polish Volleyball Federation (PVF) President Jacek Kasprzyk.
